About him
Having emerged from a 29-year marriage slightly worse for wear 3 years ago, I am now ready to look for that crazy thing called love and give it another go!
I live in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside and go on long walks with my trusty sidekick, Lily, almost every day. I have also trekked more sunnier climbs in recent times, over the Amalfi coast and Comino de Santiago which was a fantastic experience. When I'm up for it, I try to go to the gym when I can, but my body is a bit battered from the rugby years and so I tend to take a less intense approach these days.
My weekends during the summer are busy with beekeeping and trying to stop the little buggers from swarming. My daughter comes to visit and helps out, mostly when it’s time for the honey harvest.....funny that! I am a biologist at heart and have always been interested in animals, nature and the countryside. Despite my rebellious and maverick tendencies, I have been lucky enough to forge a successful career in the animal health industry, and I work with a wonderful group of people who put up with me. Animal welfare is something that is really important to me.
I am very direct, which I recognise is not a good thing in some situations. It's just my way, I'm very honest, wear my heart on my sleeve and will call it as I see it. I have mellowed with age, but I do not have time for games, political manoeuvring or bullshit - life is too short.
I'm a foodie and enjoy going out for meals and cooking at home. I love going to live music events, my taste in music is erratic and all over the place to say the least, one minute I'm listening to the Concierto de Aranjuez and the next I'll be rocking to Placebo. I would describe myself as an extroverted - introvert. I'm happy to socialise but I am happy in my own company too and need time to retract once in a while to recharge the batteries.
Some interesting facts: I’ve played professional rugby, made a citizen’s arrest, rescued a dog and cat trapped in a house fire and performed as a clown at the Bayeaux Circus!

I am looking for a down to earth, exceptionally abnormal, honest and intelligent partner with a big heart and bucket loads of common sense.
